A lot of us may be wondering why some people would choose to keep pregnancy a secret, but there could be very good reasons why.

Some people opt to delay telling everybody about “the” news. Sure, it’s an exciting journey for every couple, and it is something to celebrate about, but they also feel the need to celebrate it in private. It’s common nowadays. A lot of celebrities do it. Recently, Emmy Rossum surprised the world with her announcement as she and her husband, Sam Esmail, welcomed the birth of their baby girl.

Hiding pregnancy doesn’t mean you are ashamed of it. Sometimes, you just want to get away with some hassles like dealing with unsolicited pregnancy advices or feeling the need to update others about how everything is going on. It could be that you and your partner just want to have all that precious nine months to yourselves.

Others keep it private because of anxiety, they fear it will be jinxed if they publicize it early on. Others may have suffered losing a baby before, or they might be having pregnancy issues, or they could be dealing with a difficult pregnancy, that’s why they want to wait until they are ready to tell the world.

People have different perspectives. Hiding a pregnancy may or may not be someone’s preference, but that is for you to decide. And when that time comes, choose whatever works best for you.
