11 Weeks Pregnant

Learn what’s happening in week 11 of pregnancy and find out how your baby is developing.

At week eleven you are almost through the first trimester. You may have gained a pound or two now. Baby is now the size of a lime and is starting to look more like a human.

Your increased blood volume can contribute to glowing skin.

Hormones will also increase the number of oils on your face, causing your face to look shiny and smooth.

What Happens in Your Body in Pregnancy Week 11?

Not all women gain weight during the first trimester, but you may have gained a pound or two by now.

You probably experience less morning sickness than before, but you may still be having problems with some symptoms of pregnancy at 11 weeks like fatigue or headaches.

Also, you may feel thirsty at times, so make sure to carry a bottle of water with you wherever you go.

During the eleventh week of pregnancy, your baby is growing rapidly and your body needs to adjust to the changes. Your uterus continues to expand to accommodate your baby’s increasing size.

Changes in Your Body at 11 Week Pregnant

Others may be able to tell you are pregnant by the end of the eleventh week. There may have been some changes in your physical appearance.

You’re probably gaining weight, your breasts are becoming larger and your abdomen appears distended. Some women do not “show” this early, so don’t worry if your pregnant belly is still not obvious to others.

This week you may also notice some changes in your hair and nails, which are probably growing like crazy at this stage. This is a result of the increase in pregnancy hormones.

Thanks to the increased amount of blood in your body, you may feel warmer than usual.

Your Baby at 11 Week of Pregnancy

By week eleven, your baby is around 2 ½ inches (3-5 cm) long and weighs about half an ounce (8 grams). The fingers and toes are separated and the bones are hardening.

This week your baby is very active, but unfortunately, he/she is too small for you to feel the movements. All of your baby’s organs are developed and beginning to function.

During the eleventh week of your pregnancy, your baby’s ears will move to their permanent position. The head is equal in length to the rest of the body and hair follicles are forming on the crown. Fingernail and toenail beds begin to develop this week and the body is straightening.

Your little one can now sigh, stretch, suck its thumb and move its head. He/she will start to inhale and exhale smaller amounts of amniotic fluid, which will help your baby’s lungs to grow.

Pregnancy Week 11 Tips

It is important that you continue to eat properly in order to give your baby all the nutrients he/she needs.

Eating healthy and exercising regularly is extremely important for a healthy pregnancy. It’s alright to feel exhausted and sleepy because your body works hard to produce hormones and more blood to support your growing baby.

Your body needs sleep, will probably need more sleep than usual, so be sure you get it! Skin is stretching, so moisturize your growing belly, as well as your thighs and hips to prevent dry, itchy skin.

Also, avoid hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas and anything else that can raise your body temperature above 102 degrees.
